Turkish Physical Society 3rd "Capturing a Physics Natural Phenomenon" Photo Contest Specifications

 

Contest Theme:

 

This contest aims to highlight the relationship between nature and science through the discovery and sharing of natural phenomena via photography. Understanding the universe begins with observing the events happening around us and in our galaxy. This contest offers the opportunity to convey the secrets of nature in a visual language.

Contest Rules:

 

  • Each contestant may participate with one (1) or more photographs.
  • Photographs must not have won any awards in previous contests.
  • Accepted photographs should reflect natural phenomena such as lightning, rainbows, volcanic eruptions, thunderstorms, solar eclipses, meteor showers, etc.
  • Allowed modifications to photographs include specific photographic adjustments such as color, sharpness, dust removal, and contrast settings, provided that the documentary integrity of the photo is maintained.
  • Political, advertising content, personal, or nude photographs will not be accepted.
  • Montages or collage works will not be accepted. Photos taken with an EP phone and other methods will be evaluated in landscape format. Drone shots are acceptable.

 

Photo Format and Size:

 

  • Photographs must be in JPG/JPEG format, with a resolution of 150-300 dpi and a compression quality of 8-12.
  • File size must be between 1 MB and 10 MB.
  • The minimum width of photographs must be 2400 pixels.

 

Naming:

 

  • Photographs should be named in a way that clearly indicates the content or the natural event represented.
  • Photographs should be presented with a short name that clearly indicates the content or the natural event represented.

 

Application and Submission:

 

  • Participants' contact information must be accurate and complete.
  • Contest application and photo submission must only be made through the specified form. Other communication channels will not be accepted.
  • The file name to be uploaded should be in the format of first name, last name, and name of college or company without spaces and Turkish characters, with underscores (_) instead of spaces. Example: NAME_SURNAME_NAMEOFCOLLEGE. Example file name: BAKI_AKKUS_ISTANBULUNIVERSITY

 

Display and Awards:

 

  • Participants will exhibit their photographs at the TFD 9th Physics Students Congress and Festival.
  • Winners of the contest will be determined by the Photo Contest Selection Committee.

 

Copyright:

 

  • All rights to the submitted photographs belong to the participant.
  • Submitted photographs must be taken by the contestant.
  • Participants permit the Turkish Physical Society to use the submitted photographs in events, printed materials, website, and social media accounts with credit.
  • In case of commercial use of photographs, prior permission will be obtained from the owners of the photographs.

 

Contest and Exhibition:

 

  • All photographs accepted into the contest will be exhibited at the TFD 9th Physics Students Congress and Festival.
  • Winners of the contest will be determined by the Photo Contest Selection Committee.
